인사갤러리는 3월 22일부터 4월 8일까지 김소들, 이효지, 정미경, 차영지 작가의 Spring Delivery 전시를 개최한다.
김소들 작가는 촉각과 미각을 통해 느끼는 감정을 유머러스하게 표현한다. 전설의 록밴드 Rolling Stones의 정신을 계승하는 김소들 작가는 흥겹고 풍부하며 때로는 직설적이고 개구지다. 다소 풍자적인 그의 작품세계는 확실히 롤링 스톤즈와 맞닿아 있다. 믹 재거의 그것처럼 장난기와 저항, 자유와 풍자로 가득한 그의 화법에 매료된다.
이효지 작가는 동화적인 배경과 천진난만한 아이를 통해 봄이 가진 에피소드를 표현한다. 우리는 모두 어른이 되어가면서 많은 것을 알아버리고, 그 과정에서 많은 것을 잊어버렸다. 순수했던 그 시절의 내면의 모습을 작품을 통해 다시금 깨울 수 있기를 바라는 작가의 마음을 담았다. 이효지 작가는 캐나다에서 8년간 ‘My Little Pony’, ‘Pucca’등 다수의 애니메이션 작품의 아트팀에서 캐릭터 디자인, 배경 칼라 스타일링 등 비쥬얼 아티스트로 경력을 쌓아왔으며 현재 개인작업에 몰두하고 있다.
정미경 작가만의 독특한 캐릭터 ㅁㅣmi (미미)는 시공간을 초월하며 주변 존재들과 일체를 이룬다. 미미는 거대한 산봉우리일 수도 있고 하이브리드된 호랑이 모습일 수도 있고 작은 콩깍지 모습일 수도 있다. 흑백의 소묘와 여백을 강조하고 동양적인 사상이 가미된 배경은 신화적이고 판타지가 가득하다. 작가의 주인공 미미는 평범한 어린 아이지만 정미경 작가의 설화적 상상력 속에서 인간과 자연, 동물과 합위일체된 세계를 구현시킨다.
차영지 작가는 미국 LA를 베이스로 활발한 활동을 펼치고 있는 작가이며 DreamWorks Animation사의 에니메이션 Visual Developer로 경력을 쌓아온 작가이다. 그녀는 한국의 전래동화를 모티브로 비범한 캐릭터와 깊이 있는 컬러감으로 미국에서 주목 받는 컨템포러리 아티스트로 떠오르고 있는 중이다. 현실과 환상, 상상의 경계속에 한국 전래동화에 등장하는 다양한 캐릭터로 의외로 한국이 아닌 곳에서 더욱 뚜렷한 개성과 고유성을 인정받고 있다. 그녀는 특히 한국적인 고유성과 독특함을 통해 동심을 상징하면서도 권선징악적 주제와 도덕, 삶, 죽음에 관한 비유적 스토리로 세계적이고 보편적인 공감을 형성하고 있다. 지금도 Visual Developer로서 굴지의 애니메이션 사와 꾸준히 협업을 하고 있는 중이다.
Spring Delivery group exhibition will be held in Insa gallery by 4 artists Kim-Sodul, Lee Hyo-Ji, Jeong Mi-Kyung and Cha Young-Ji from March 22nd to April 8th.
Kim So-deul expresses emotions in a humorous way. Kim So-deul, who is greatly inspired by the legendary rock band ‘The Rolling Stones’, is cheerful, and at times, straightforward and mischievous. His slightly satirical approach is definitely in line with ‘The Rolling Stones’. Like Mick Jagger, viewers are fascinated by his narration full of playfulness, resistance, freedom and sarcasm.
Lee Hyo-ji narrates spring through a fairy tale like background with innocent children. We all learn many aspects of life as we grow old though a lot are forgotten along the way. She hopes to reawaken the inner self of those innocent days through her work. Lee Hyo-ji worked as a visual artist in Canada for 8 years. She built her career as a character designer and a background color stylist for various animation series such as ‘My Little Pony’ and ‘Pucca’. Currently, she is devoting herself to her personal work.
Jung Mi-kyung‘s unique character, Mimi, transcends time, space and becomes one with the surrounding beings. Mimi can transform to become a huge mountain peak, a hybrid tiger, or a small bean pod. The artist emphasizes shallow black-and-white background full of oriental mythical fantasies. Mimi, is an ordinary child, but in the atist’s narrative, she embodies a world in which humans, nature, and animals are united.
Cha Youngji is an artist who is vigorously active in LA, USA, building her career as a visual developer in ‘DreamWorks Animation’. With extraordinary characters and in-depth colors inspired by Korean legends, she is emerging as a notable contemporary artist in the US. Her characters are recognized outside of Korea for their uniqueness in boundaries between reality, fantasy, and imagination. She symbolizes innocence through distinct Korean culture, but also forms a global and universal empathy with a metaphorical story of life and death, along with morality in poetic justice. Even now, she is constantly engaging as a visual developer in various animation studios.
