인사갤러리에서는 폭넓고 자유로운 상상력으로 직업을 펼치는 지미례 작가의 개인전이 3월 8일부터 18일까지 개최된다.

모든게 부족하고 궁핍하게만 느껴지는 시대에도 누군가는 자신만의 방식으로 삶의 결핍을 채워나간다. 작품들 속에 담긴 이야기들은 개인의 이야기로부터 공통의 이야기로 뻗어나간다. 남들에겐 하지 못하지만 누군가는 알아줬으면 하는 이야기, 숨바꼭질하듯 마음속에 숨어있는 결핍들을 관찰해 작품 속에 담는다. 모두에게 각기 다른 색, 모양, 모습으로 존재하는 기피의 대상인 결핍을 한 발자국 떨어져서 바라볼 수 있도록 작가는 결핍된 것들을 면밀하게 관찰하고 소화시킨 뒤 자신만의 동화적인 방식으로 풀어내어 타인과의 소통의 창구로 여긴다. 작가는 소중한 것을 보관하고 전시하는 역할의 액자 프레임을 손으로 제작하고 작품을 담아내어 보잘것 없어 보이는 것들의 울타리 역할을 하게 하며 소외된 이야기를 수면으로 올려내고 영구적인 형태로 기록한다.

Solo exhibition of artist Ji Mi-Rye will be held in Insa Gallery from March 8th to March 18th.

One fills up the void in life by his or her own ways even in times where everything feels destitute. With her work, Ji Mi-Rye extends her own secret stories to be empathetic to the audiences. She observes deficiencies that are secretly hidden in one’s heart like a game of hide-and-seek. She closely observes and digests them, and then narrates them in her work for one to observe deficiencies that exist in different colors, shapes, and appearances from a distance. She considers this as a way of communication with the viewers. She hand-crafts picture frames that encapsulates her work to act as a fence for seemingly insignificant things. She raises alienated stories to the surface and records them in a permanent form.
