유난히 뜨거웠던 여름을 지나 가을입니다.

생명의 절정을 지나, 찰나의 풍요를 넘기고 다시 추운 겨울을 준비해야 하는 계절이기도 합니다. 인사갤러리는 이수희 작가와 함께 이 찬란한 계절과 살아 있는 생명의 이야기를 담은 A Little Bit of Autumn 전시를 준비했습니다.

자연은 늘 그렇듯 인간보다 먼저 와 있었고, 인간이 떠난 뒤에도 오래 남을 것입니다. 이러한 진리를 뒤로 한 채 정신없이 살아가는 이 순간 속에서도 작가는 사람과 사람 사이의 느슨한 관계, 시골의 심심한 일상, 오래된 건물과 사라지는 계절, 그 안에서 피어나는 유머와 해학, 소박한 일상의 이야기를 기록합니다. 작가는 자연이 거룩하고 위대하다고 말하지 않고, 자연을 보호하자고 외치지도 않습니다. 작가의 캔버스에는 격정의 드라마나 촌철살인의 날카로움도 없습니다. 단지 이 풍경은 끊임없이 자라고, 번지며 뿌리내리는 살아있는 풍경이며 누구나 잠시 정착하고 다시 떠날 수 있는 넓고 따뜻한 풍경이기도 합니다. 이수희 작가가 건네주는 이 ‘가을 한 줌‘ 을 마음껏 만끽해 주시기 바랍니다.

After an unusually hot summer, autumn has arrived. Life has reached its peak, and the season’s fleeting abundance will soon give way to preparations for the cold winter ahead. Insa Gallery presents A Little Bit of Autumn, an exhibition by Suhee Lee that celebrates this radiant season and the stories of the life it holds.

Nature was here long before us and will remain long after we are gone. Even as we rush through our lives, seldom pausing to consider this simple truth, Lee records the quiet connections between people, the uneventful rhythms of rural life, old buildings, and passing seasons. Within these ordinary scenes, humor, gentle wit, and small stories of everyday life unfold. Lee neither proclaims nature’s grandeur and sanctity nor calls upon us to protect it. There is no heightened drama or biting commentary on these canvases. Instead, we encounter a living landscape that keeps growing, spreading, and taking root—a landscape spacious and welcoming enough for anyone to linger for a while before moving on.
