무더위가 가시는 처서가 지나고 신선한 가을을 맞이하는 문턱에 들어섰습니다. 올해 이전한 새로운 공간 인사갤러리에서 이길혜 선생님의 초대 개인전을 열게 되어 매우 기쁘게 생각합니다. 실버라이닝(Silver Lining)의 일관된 주제와 이미지로 꾸준히 작품 활동을 하고 있는 작가의 2022년 개인전 이후 근작들을 모은 전시입니다.

작품 타이틀인 실버라이닝(Silver Lining)은 어두운 구름 뒤에 숨은 은빛 가장자리처럼 시련 속에서도 긍정적인 희망을 보여주는 작가 작품의 핵심 주제입니다.

유화의 더딘 여러 과정을 거쳐 겹겹이 쌓아올린 표면은 마치 캔버스위에 한지를 얹어놓은 듯한 느낌을 주며 그 위에 일필휘지(一筆揮之)로 그려진 듯한 타원 드로잉은 작가의 오랜 내공을 느낄 수 있는 작품의 중요한 요소이기도 합니다.

특히 근작에서는 단색톤과 투톤(two tone)화면에 구름으로 상징된 타원들의 배열과 조합이 단순화 되거나 생략되고 작은 떨림이 있는 모서리 경계는 작가 고유의 투명한 색채가 중첩되어 차분하고 맑은 감정의 울림을 잔잔하게 전달합니다.

이길혜, 실버라이닝(Silver Lining) 전시는 오늘 8월 27일 수요일부터 9월 23일 화요일까지 인사갤러리에서 열리며 그 기간중(9월 3일~7일) 코엑스 키아프, 인사갤러리 부스(B65)에서도 일부 전시됩니다. 바쁘시더라도 부디 오셔서 많은 감상 부탁드립니다.

As the warmth of summer slowly gives way to the crisp, refreshing air of autumn, we are thrilled to welcome you to the new space of Insa Gallery for the solo exhibition of artist Kil Hae Lee. This show gathers her recent works since her 2022 solo exhibition, all reflecting the enduring themes and imagery of Silver Lining, which lie at the heart of her artistic vision.

The title Silver Lining evokes the silver edges behind dark clouds, symbolizing hope and positivity even in times of challenge—a theme central to Kil Hae Lee’s work. The layered surfaces of her oil paintings, built through a careful and gradual process, suggest the delicate texture of traditional Korean paper laid atop the canvas. The ovals, seemingly drawn in a single, flowing stroke, reveal the artist’s mastery and are a defining feature of her compositions.

In her recent works, the arrangement and interplay of these cloud-like ovals are often simplified or omitted against serene monochromatic or two-tone backgrounds. The subtle, gently trembling edges, layered with Lee’s signature translucent colors, convey a quiet, contemplative emotion that resonates deeply with the viewer.
