작가 권진우는 깊은 허무주의와 독특한 센티멘탈리즘을 결합하여 자신만의 스타일을 확립합니다. 그의 “Ashes” 시리즈는 석고붕대와 FRP(피규어 제작용 소재)로 얼굴 표정과 압박된 사지를 섬세하고 우아하게 묘사함으로써 강한 매력을 전달합니다.

작가 남기승은 강렬한 고통의 심연을 묘사합니다. 그는 섬세하고 부드러운 선으로 아름답고 약간 암울하면서도 연민 어린 자아를 묘사하며, 고통이 자신인지 아니면 자신이 고통인지에 대한 무지와 연약함을 솔직하게 고백합니다. 그는 자신을 둘러싼 공허함과 공간감을 조성하고, 심연에 충만한 고통과 연민을 여과시킵니다.

작가의 독특한 방식은 고통을 통해 살아있는 존재임을 확인하는 자기 인식을 보여줌으로써 결국 상시적인 자기 부인을 통해 끊임없는 긍정으로 다가갑니다.

캔버스 위에서 자아의 존재론적 고통과 자기 연민의 딜레마, 고립된 개인의 한계를 각자의 방식으로 적응하고 있는 두 작가를 통해, 다양한 위안과 희망의 방법을 공유하고자 합니다.

Insa Gallery is pleased to present two special artists Nam Ki-seung and Kwon Jin-woo.

Kwon Jin-woo combines deep nihilism with unique sentimentalism to establish his own style. His series titled “Ashes” delicately and elegantly conveys strong appeal by depicting facial expressions and compressed limbs with plaster bandages and FRP, a material used for figure production.

Nam Ki-seung describes the intense abyss of pain. He delicately portrays a beautiful yet somewhat melancholic and tender self with sensitive and gentle strokes, confessing his ignorance and vulnerability about whether the pain is his own or if he is the embodiment of pain itself. He constructs a sense of space surrounding himself with hollow emptiness and filters the pain and compassion filled in the abyss. The unique method of the artist, showing a cage-like awareness of oneself confirming to be a living being through the sense of pain, ultimately approaches endless positivism through constant denial.

Through adapting the dilemma of existential pain and self-compassion, and the limits of isolated individuals in their own ways on the canvas, they aim to share different methods of comfort and hope.
