나이가 들어간다는 것은 세상이 커질수록 더 큰 세상이 존재한다는 것을 깨닫는 것과 같아 보입니다. 하지만 세상이 커질 수록 나의 존재는 더욱 가벼워지고 또 위태로워지는 것 같기도 합니다. 우리의 어린 시절 무의식과 정의되지 않은 감정, 어른이 되어 잊혀진 기억을 섬세하게 그려내는 두 작가 감만지, 오다타키와 함께하는 ‘내일에서 온 아이(A Child From Tomorrow) 전시를 인사갤러리에서 개최합니다.

동화적인 낭만성이든, 일상적이고 지극히 현실적이든, 이들은 모두 나의 아이, 옆집 아이이며 또한 아주 먼 기억속에 존재하는 오래전 동네 친구들, 놓쳐버린 나, 나의 자아(自我)이기도 합니다. 진실로 아이를 바라보는 것은 나 자신을 바라보는 것의 시작입니다. 아이들은 잃어버린 나를 복원시킵니다. 이 복원의 과정을 통해 이 시대의 아이들을, 나자신을 이해할 수 있도록 내 안에 남아있는 그 어린 소년과 소녀를 다시 찾을 수 있도록 말이지요.

One realizes that the world is a much bigger place as he/she grows older; Contrarily, one’s existence seems to shrink and be precarious. Insa Gallery is pleased to presents ‘A Child From Tomorrow’ exhibition with two artists Gammanzi and Odataki who delicately depict our childish subconsciousness, undefined emotions, and our forgotten memories as an adult.

Whether it was a fairytale-like memory or a mundane ordinary life, a ‘childhood memory’ is the story of our child and the child next door, a childhood friend who exists in a very distant memory, and our memories we have missed for countless years. Taking a journey to our true inner self from childhood memory is the first step to self-actualization. Through restoration of these memories, we are truly able to understand ourselves along with the children of this generation.
